Support Performing Arts In The Schools

To the Editor:

We are writing to commend the students, staff, and parents who helped bring Les Miserables to the Newtown High School stage. We were amazed by the caliber of the show and feel confident those fortunate to attend any one of the performances would agree. The ambitious goal to build a Newtown High School Performing Arts Fund is one which we all must support to allow future productions such as this to be undertaken.

It is also critical that we maintain our superior standards in the lower school music programs and classrooms. At the end of April, all of us have the opportunity to vote for the town’s budget for next year. It is time to take a stand for our schools, as an outstanding school system benefits everyone, not just those who have school-aged children. May all those who stood and cheered for the cast of Les Mis lead this vote. Bravo!
