Grashow Returning

For SCAN Program

The artist James Grashow will return to Newtown to offer the next program for The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN). Mr Grashow will be discussing and presenting some of his recent sculptures on Wednesday, April 28, at 1:30 pm.

This program will take place in the lower meeting room at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown. The public is invited, and admission is free.

James Grashow has been creating works that address themes of man, nature and morality since the 1960s. He currently has a show at The Allan Stone Gallery in New York City. The scale of his sculpture ranges from large environmental installations, through the viewer transverses, to the delicate and contained world of his houseplants, where homes and buildings replace flowers and buds in intricately constructed bouquets.

Mr Grashow is also a well-known woodcut artist. He may bring some woodblocks and prints with him for his SCAN presentation. His prints have appeared regularly in The New York Times and in well-known periodicals and publication across the country.

Mr Grashow attended Pratt Institute in NYC where he received a BFA degree. Upon graduation he was awarded a Fulbright Travel Grant for painting and graphics in Florence, Italy. After a year abroad, he returned to Pratt to receive a MFA.
