Fairfield House & Garden Restoration Show

FAIRFIELD — Fairfield Historical Society’s Seventh Annual House & Garden Restoration Show will take place at the landmark Burr Homestead, 739 Old Post Road, on Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25. Hours are 10 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday and 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

A preview party will be held Friday, April 23, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. This year’s honorary chairman is former Fairfield First Selectman Jacky Durrell.

Forty vendors from Connecticut and neighboring states will display their wares and wherewithal at the show, typically including custom carpenters, slate roofers, masonry cleaners, fireplace carvers, architectural salvagers, trompe l’oeil painters, glass installers, cabinet makers, fitting manufacturers, and building movers.

“Spring is the time when people start thinking about work to be done on the house and in the garden,” notes show chairman Carleen Kunkel of Trumbull. “This show is a must for owners of historic homes, but any homeowner – even someone starting from scratch – will get lots of ideas and meet the professionals who can make them happen.”

Several of the exhibitors will be garden specialists – landscape designers and vendors of outdoor furniture and ornaments – who will set up on the Burr Homestead grounds. Shrubbery and flowering plants will be sold by highly regarded area nurseries.

All proceeds from the House & Garden Restoration Show benefit Fairfield Historical Society’s community and educational programs.

Admission to the House & Garden Restoration Show, which includes a copy of the Resource Directory, is $7. For information call 203-259-1598.
