Eddison To Discuss Container Gardening

The Garden Club of Newtown will host a special daytime program on Thursday, April 22, featuring Sydney Eddison. The program, “The Container Garden: A moveable feast,” follows the theme of Mrs Eddison’s next book, which will focus on using how to make a garden on a terrace or patio using plants in containers.

“Making a container garden is not the same thing as using potted plants for decoration,” says Mrs Eddison. “Decoration is intended to be looked at. A garden, even if it is growing in pots, is meant to be experienced.”

Mrs Eddison is a Newtown resident and a garden expert. She has authored six gardening books and has written introductions to four other books. Her next book is expected to be published by Bulfinch Press next spring.

Mrs Eddison is is a frequent contributor to Fine Gardening, The Gardener, and other publications. She also teaches for The New York Botanical Garden and The Institute of Ecosystem Studies.

Her lecture will be at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown. She will begin speaking at 11 am.

The public is invited to attend at no charge.
