Delbert L. Barden

Delbert L. Barden, 89, a longtime Stamford resident, died at home on April 8, after to a lengthy illness. Born in Hamilton, N.Y., on January 25, 1915, he was the son of the late William D. and Christina Oles Barden.

He is survived by his two daughters, Judy Jensen of Newtown and Gail Schappa of Milford, and his son, Douglas Barden of Mooresville, Ind.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Jean Sleath Barden.

Mr Barden was a graduate of Chatham (N.Y.) High School, and he attended Alfred University in New York. He was a retired carpenter from Carpenters Local 210 and worked many years for Lee Company of New Canaan. He was a longstanding member of the Cos Cob Rifle and Revolver Club and the Halloween Yacht Club. Mr Barden was an avid fisherman for many years. He was a member of St John’s Episcopal Church in Stamford.

A funeral service was held at St John’s Episcopal Church, 628 Main Street, Stamford, on April 13.

Burial followed at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery.
