Rachel's Holocaust Story Program
Rachelâs Holocaust Story Program
WOODBURY â On Sunday, April 22, at 10 am, Holocaust survivor Rachel Kazimierek will tell her story at the office of The Federation â Jewish Communities of Western CT, 73 Main Street South in Woodbury. This free program is sponsored by Brownstein Jewish Family Service and is open to the public.
Rachel Kazimierek was born in 1929 and at age 10 was one of thousands of Jews interred in the Lodz ghetto. After a couple of years, she was moved to Auschwitz, where she walked many miles each night to get to her job in the salt mines. That work was one of the contributing factors leading to Mrs Kazimierekâs blindness. She was liberated from Bergen-Belsen on April 15, 1945.
Mrs Kazimierek and her husband, Jake, live in Waterbury. They have five children and eight grandchildren.
This free program is one of the public outreach programs of the Holocaust Survivors and Second Generation group sponsored by Brownstein JFS. Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP, as space is limited. For more information or to make reservations, call Debby Horowitz at 263-5121, extension 304.
