Someone Did Care
Someone Did Care
To the Editor:
My name is Laurie Miller and I have lived in Newtown my entire life. I have always considered Newtown to be one of the best towns around. This was confirmed on April 8, 2005.
As I was coming home from a friendâs house, I became the victim of a hit and run accident by an off-duty state police officer. I would like to express my deepest thanks to all of the Newtown volunteer EMTs, firefighters, and police that responded to the accident late that rainy night. Their promptness and expertise shined that evening. Newtownâs best emergency teams were there within minutes. Itâs so comforting to know that when I was trapped and left in my car by someone who had no concern for my welfare, that dozens of Newtown residents jumped out of bed in the middle of the night with compassion and concern.
To all of those people, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of their kindness and help in such a horrifying situation.
With great gratitude,
Laurie Miller
