Public Speakers

Local students from St Rose School recently gained the opportunity to demonstrate their public speaking skills and take pride in personal accomplishments. On April 12, the students took part in a speech contest sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America, a national provider of fraternal financial services and programs. Nearly 100,000 students compete in the contest each year. Students competing in the contest, which was held at St Rose School, shared their presentations on this year’s topic, “A Great Time In American History.” The winners are left, Megan Meier, Third Place; Ryan Cahalane, Second Place; and Peter Walsh, First Place. The top two winners are now eligible to compete at the Regional Speech Contest to be held at St Catherine of Sienna in Bridgeport next month.                                                                                              —Bee Photo, Coney
