*Paintings By Virginia Zic: Join Newtown resident and artist Virginia Zic this weekend for the opening of her new exhibition featuring watercolor âportraitsâ of the earthâs surface. The exhibition will be on view Sunday, April 17, until Friday, May 20, during regular library hours.
An opening reception will be held this Sunday afternoon from 2 to 4 pm. Enjoy some light refreshments, view the artwork and meet the artist.

*Nutmeg Book Discussion: Pick up a copy of Made You Look by Diane Roberts and then join us for the second Nutmeg Book Discussion on Wednesday, April 27, from 6:30 until 7:30.
When Jasonâs parents decide to take a cross country trip to California from their home in Texas, it becomes Jasonâs mission to earn a spot on his favorite game show, Masquerade Mania. With his best friend Freddie along as his coach, Jason is looking forward to a chance of a lifetime.
Unfortunately, they encounter a few obstacles along the way that will keep readers laughing the entire trip.

Celebrate National Poetry Month in the YA Department with our special displays and poetry contest. Take the quiz in YA or Reference and enter to win a $25 Borders gift card that will be drawn from all correct entries at the end of the month.
Adult Programs
*Party For A First-Time Author: As profiled in last weekâs Newtown Bee, C.J. Golden is celebrating the release of her first book, The Tao of The Defiant Woman. The one-part serious, one-part humor, one-part self-help guide for all ages was written over the course of two years by the Newtown resident.
Ms Golden will be hosting a book signing event and celebration of C.H. Booth Library on Sunday, April 17, from 2 to 5 pm. She will meet with readers and those who are curious about her book, and will sign copies of her books. Light refreshments will be served and Ms Golden has promised to donate part of the afternoonâs proceeds from book sales to the library.
*Book Discussions: Upcoming book discussions include Barbara Ehrenreichâs Nickel and Dimed on Thursday, April 21, at 7:30 pm; Peter P. Petersenâs Running on Empty: How the Democrats and the Republican Parties are Bankrupting Our Futures on Tuesday, May 3, at 7:30 pm; Julia Alvarezâs In The Name of Salome on Monday, May 9 (call for time); and Sue Monk Kiddâs Secret Life Of Bees on Thursday, May 19 (call for start time).
*Introduction to Indian Cooking: Kanwal Sahki will be offering a demonstration on Indian cooking on Saturday, April 16, at 1 pm.
