Drawing From Nature At Audubon Center

Southbury — The Audubon Center at Bent of the River is offering “drawing from nature” art classes for middle and high school students on six Sunday afternoons from May 1 to June 12.  Students of all skill levels are invited to attend.

Audubon’s 660-acre sanctuary provides a perfect setting for learning to draw nature, especially in spring, when all of nature comes alive. Colorful cardinals and river ducks, meadow grasses and wildflowers, majestic oaks and flowering apple trees, rock formations and patches of fiddlehead ferns — all are available to inspire the young artist.

Jean Kozenieski, art teacher from South Britain, will be the “Drawing from Nature” instructor.  Ms Kozenieski holds a BS degree from Teikyo Post University and has taught art in area schools for many years. She enjoys landscape painting and teaching young people her craft. She was the director and instructor of her own creative arts studio in Newtown.

Two classes will be held on six consecutive Sundays: one for middle school students from 1 to 2:30 pm and one for high school students from 3 to 4:30 pm.  Tuition is $45 for each six-week session.  Class size is limited to eight students and registration will be on a first-come, first served basis.

Call the Center at 203-264-5098 to register before the deadline of April 25.  A list of supplies will be provided at registration. Bent of the River is located on East Flat Hill Road in South Britain, about a half mile from Connecticut Route 172 off of I-84 (Exit 14).
