Postcard Club Annual Show May 10

PORT JERVIS, N.Y. — The Half Moon Postcard Club is holding its 29th annual show and sale Saturday, May 10, at the Elks Lodge. With more than 20 dealers there will be a wide range of vintage postcards and ephemera for sale. Club members will be available to answer questions and in some cases give brief appraisals of collectible postcards.

Dee Dee Backus and Joan Dunn have completed an update of the club’s 1994 publication on postcards by Alfred S. Landis, Sullivan County, N.Y., bird’s-eye view artist. Landis pictured hundreds of the summer boarding houses, hotels and resorts of the Catskill region as well as other areas. The majority of the scenes date from the 1930s to 1950s. Landis’s grandson, Jim Landis from Alabama, helped in the updating and revision. Copies of the updated book will be on sale at the show.

The Elks Lodge is at 32 Route 6, off Exit 1, Interstate 84. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm and there is a $2 donation at the door.
