Anita Shapolsky Gallery Shows Masters Of Abstraction

NEW YORK CITY — Anita Shapolsky Gallery will present a group exhibition, “Masters of Abstraction,” May 6–July 4. The show features paintings, paper pieces, photographs and sculptures various artists who are considered masters of Abstract Expressionism. The works on display are examples of the use of various techniques, materials and different artistic ideas of the 1950s and 1960s.

Anaita Shapolsky Gallery exhibits energetic, vigorous Abstract Expressionist works that capture viewers’ attention with an arresting play of moods. The number of interesting works on display contributes to the vibrant New York art scene.

Masters of Abstraction include Seymour Boardman, Ernest Briggs, James Brooks, Ilya Bolotowsky, Lawrence Calcagno, Perez Celis, Nassos Daphnis, Lynne Drexler, John Grillo, Amaranth Ehrenhalt, Jimmy Ernst, Joseph Fiore, Buffie Johnson, Grace Hartigan, John Hultbert, Albert Kotin, Michael Loew, William Manning, Jeanne Miles, Joan Mitchell, Ethel Schwabacher, Leonard Nelson, Louise Nevelson, Betty Parsons, Irving Petlin, Robert Rauschenberg, William Saroyan, Theodoros Stamos, Aaron Sisking, Misha Reznikoff, Wilfrid Zogbaum Jeanne Reynal, Thomas Sills, Richards Ruben and Yvonne Thomas.

The gallery is at 152 East 65th Street. Hours in May and June are Tuesday–Saturday, 11 am to 6 pm; July and August, Wednesday, 11 am to 5 pm or by appointment.
