Parent Programs

Hope And Support meets on Monday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30. If you are a parent or guardian with questions or concerns about your child’s possible or confirmed involvement with substances, you are welcome to attend this group.

Grandparents’ Group — “The Second Time Around: Raising Your Children’s Children” is a new support program for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. This is an ongoing group that meets on Tuesdays from noon until 1:30, and there is no fee.

Youth Programs

HSYAB will meet on Monday, April 24, at 2 pm, in the NHS cafeteria. There are many events upcoming and we would appreciate all members attend this meeting.

NYCAAP meets on Wednesdays, 7 to 8 pm, at the high school.

SMAD will meet on Wednesday, April 26, in the middle school cafeteria.

Children of Divorce will meet on Monday, April 24, from 6 to 7 pm.

Sibshops will meet on Monday, May 1, from 5 to 7 pm.

NYS Awards

Outstanding Youth Awards will be presented on Thursday, May 11, at 4 pm, at Booth Library. Nominees will be judged on outstanding qualities in the following categories: Service To Others, Babysitting, Friend, Sister/Brother, or any other outstanding quality.

Nomination forms are available at Newtown Youth Services, the schools, Drug Center Pharmacy, and Booth Library. All nominations must be received by noon on Friday, April 28.

Gail Smith Awards will be presented on Monday, May 22, at 7 pm, at Booth Library. Three awards will be given: one to an adult, one to a youth, and one to a business.

Criteria for nomination are based on outstanding contribution and leadership for the betterment of services, facilities, and recognition of Newtown’s youth.

Nomination forms are available at Newtown Youth Services, the schools, Drug Center Pharmacy, and Booth Library. Nominations must be received by noon on Friday, May 5.

All programs take place at Newtown Youth Services, 10 Glen Road, unless noted. Call 270-4335 for additional information.
