Furniture Maker Gives Lecture
WOODBURY â Jean Bouteiller, a sculptor and furniture maker, will discuss her roots in the furniture of the 18th Century and the path that has brought her to where she is today, in âThe Furniture Of Jean D. Boutellier: An Evolution of Form,â a lecture at Flanders Nature Centerâs Van Vleck Art Studio. The program will begin at 7:30 pm on Friday, April 28.
Ms Bouteiller will reveal the influences and methods that led to the unique designs of her one-of-a-kind furniture and sculpture. Along with slides showing her work, some of her pieces will also be displayed.
A resident of Cornwall, Ms Bouteiller apprenticed with furniture maker Eugene E. Landon of Montoursville, Penn., for three years. Her work has been exhibited at the Philadelphia and the Providence Furniture and Furnishings Shows; Wharton Esherick Museum in Paoli, Penn.; Peters Valley Craft Fair in Layton, N.J.; and Cornwall and Litchfield historical societies. She was recently declared a NICHE Award finalist in the traditionally joined wood category.
Her lecture will be part of the nature centerâs Candlelight Art Evenings Series. Reservations are requested but not mandatory. A donation of $5 is requested.
