Danbury Concert Chorus To Perform
DANBURY â Danbury Music Centre will present Danbury Concert Chorus, under the direction of New Fairfield resident Richard Price, music director and conductor, in concert on Sunday, April 23. The performance will begin at 3 pm and will be at St James Church, 25 West Street.
The 90-voice choir will be joined by Danbury Symphony Chamber Ensemble, and Maxim Vladimiroff on piano and organ.
Also joining the chorus will be soloists Laura Danehower Whyte, soprano, who has performed with the Collegiate Chorale and the Orchestra of St. Lukeâs; and mezzo-soprano Eunice Hill, who has performed at Alice Tully Hall and with the New York City Opera and at Carnegie Hall.
The program includes Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi. Three settings of Magnificat will also be performed, including a setting from 9th Century Gregorian chant, also a setting by Buxtehude from 1688, and one by Arvo Part from 1989.
To open the program, the chorus will perform Ave Verum Corpus by W.A. Mozart, in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the composerâs birth.
