UNCASVILLE - Theresa Caputo, the star of the hit TLC reality series Long Island Medium, made a local stop at Mohegan Sun for her Live! The Experience Tour on Thursday, April 5.The Carol Burnett Show]!" Ms Caputo joked as she made her way up the steep staircase to channel spirits of loved ones all over the venue.

The group reading was an opportunity for devoted viewers - and skeptics - to witness Ms Caputo channel the spirits of people who have died and relay messages to their loved ones in the audience.

People of all ages filled the casino's arena hoping their family member or friend would come through. Many wore special items that belonged to their deceased loved one or had pictures of them in an effort for Ms Caputo to sense their strong bond.

Before any channeling of spirits began, the event started with everyone rising for the national anthem as an image of a waving American flag took up the venue's large theater screen.

When it concluded, Ms Caputo emerged from a silhouetted backdrop and explained to the crowd that she begins all her shows that way to thank the veterans and those who currently serve our country for fighting for our freedoms. She then asked for any military members present to stand and be acknowledged for their service.

"Now I bet you are all wondering what is going to happen here tonight," she said once everyone was seated. "I have no idea. The only thing I know is that I did my hair and my nails, and I put on a beautiful dress and my fabulous shoes."

Known for her love of fashion, Ms Caputo showed off her emerald-colored crystal heels that she specifically wore for kidney disease awareness in honor of her friend Sandy, who was in the audience, whose husband recently received a lifesaving kidney transplant.

At the start of her show, Ms Caputo spoke about how she had discovered she could connect with the dead from a young age and that as a practicing Catholic she continues to use her gift hand-in-hand with her faith. The purpose of her readings is to help people in the physical world feel a connection with those who have crossed over. Her hope is to be able to validate that the bond shared with loved ones is never lost even after one soul departs from the physical world.

Her messages are not intended to cause any pain, she said, only happiness and the assurance that it is okay to embrace life. With that in mind, she warned that just because people came to the event with an idea in their head of what they wanted her to say does not mean that is what they are going to hear.

Ms Caputo explained that spirit validates the messages she gives by bringing up milestones that have happened in a person's life after their loved one died to show they have been with them during those times, as well as bringing up instances that only that person would be able to know about.

Over the course of the nearly two-hour event, Ms Caputo read more than a dozen people in the crowd.

As she walked throughout the arena, two cameramen followed her and projected her image and the image of the person she was speaking with onto large screens above the venue stage. Microphones were handed out for people receiving a reading, so everyone could hear.

Near the front row, Ms Caputo read two mothers who attended the event together, both of whom had lost their sons separately.

"Parents are not supposed to bury their children," Ms Caputo said somberly.

When she asked the women how either of them connected with the matching tattoo, one of the women's eyes went wide. She quickly moved her friend's long hair out of the way and pulled the neck of the shirt lower to reveal a heart tattoo. The woman with the tattoo explained that after her son had died she got a tattoo to match his. His said "Mama's Boy" in the heart and hers has his initials in memory of him.

Ms Caputo told the mothers to not focus of how their sons died and that letting go does not mean they are forgetting their loved one. She asked that they envision putting all their negative emotions in a suitcase and handing it over, so as to not carry those heavy burdens anymore.

"I'm very sorry for the loss of your sons," she said at the end of their reading.

Ms Caputo also channeled the child of another grieving mother in the audience. Among the specific information Ms Caputo conveyed - the picture on the headstone, the balloons the family releases in tribute, and the child's grandmother becoming a nurse - it was the mention of a princess nightgown that made the woman get visibly choked up with emotion. The woman revealed that her daughter had been born with kidney failure, and had died at the age of 4, and loved everything princesses.

She wants you to know, Ms Caputo said speaking for the child, "Now I'm God's princess."

Hearing those words, the mother burst out crying, and described how the family says that exact same phrase to each other, that her daughter is God's princess.

Not only were there plenty of tears throughout the night, but there was also a great deal of laughter. Between readings, Ms Caputo mingled with people in the crowd, snacking on their fries, and even teased the cameramen when they could not keep up with her as she made her way up the arena steps.

"I feel like Mrs Wiggins [from

During a reading later on in the night, where Ms Caputo said spirit knew of a woman's 10-year-old son recently breaking his arm falling out of a tree, Ms Caputo had the crowd laughing when she mocked the people who try to discredit her as a medium.

"Yeah, I've been stalking their family for weeks now," she said. "I Googled it just to validate it."

Even though she could not relay a message from everyone's loved ones that night, Ms Caputo asked that each member of the audience take a moment to acknowledge the loved one they came to the event with. She concluded by saying, "It's been an honor and privilege channeling your loved ones."
