Short On Specifics
Short On Specifics
To the Editor:
First of all, I would like to comment on the recent letter to the editor entitled âItâs Time To Comment.â I do not know if this individual is politically connected to our first selectman as other âsupportersâ have been in the past, but no matter. At this point, agreeing with anything Mr Rosenthal has to say is like being the last person on a sinking ship.
The one thing that does bother me, however, is that whenever either Mr Rosenthal or his backers make charges against his detractors, they accuse everyone who does not agree with him as liars. Words in this most recent letter included misrepresentation, innuendo, bogus statistical analysis, and outright lies. However, one thing that these people never do is provide the specifics of what they are referring to so that their accusations can be repudiated point by point.
If the answers to many of the questions asked by WeCAN are on the official town website, then why canât the current administration direct the voters specifically to where the answers can be found? And what about all of the other unanswered questions? The silence is deafening. It is as if they feel that the only good Newtown voter is an uninformed voter.
The reason for the current âus versus themâ mentality is because Mr Rosenthal would rather continue to push through his own agenda as he has in the past rather than listen to or respond to any of the important questions from his constituents. If that is how he chooses to play, fine. Come this November, the concerned voters of Newtown will respond to his silence at the polls.
