Earth Day All Month Long At A New Beginning

BETHEL  — An environmental leader in the beauty industry, A New Beginning (an Aveda Concept Salon & Day Spa) will welcome Earth Day 2007 by celebrating all month long to raise a minimum of $1,800 for its Earth Month partner, The Charles River Watershed Association, a nonprofit organization with a mission to use science, advocacy, and the law to protect, preserve, and enhance the Charles River and its watershed in Massachusetts.

The spa is at 68 Stony Hill Road, in the Mountain Laurel Plaza.

During the month of April, guests may participate in a variety of fundraising efforts. A New Beginning will kick off its celebration by featuring Aveda’s limited edition candle, Light the Way, which is made from organic lavender. Candles are $10 and 100 percent of the proceeds of candle sales will help Global Greengrants Fund protect clean water for children and communities around the globe, including projects like building a bathhouse in Bulgaria for the workers who harvest the organic lavender featured in the 2007 candle’s aroma. 

Guests may also support fundraising efforts by scheduling an “Appointment for the Earth.” A portion of the proceeds from select services will be donated to a New Beginning’s regional Earth Day Partner.

The staff of A New Beginning will host at an outdoor Environmental Fair on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22, from 10 am until 2 pm. At the heart of the Earth Fair will be exhibitors representing environmental organizations and commercial enterprises that address the environment and quality of life through alternative energy, organic landscaping, alternative healthcare services, and organic and recycled goods. There is no charge for public admission or vendor display. No rain date is scheduled.

Since 1999, Aveda has raised more than $6 million for projects protecting diversity of life on Earth. A New Beginning, along with Aveda, has helped protect native plants, animals, forests, oceans, rivers, clean air, and watersheds in communities around the planet. This commitment is part of A New Beginning’s mission and deep sense of purpose. This is why at a New Beginning, Earth Day is every day.  The company goal in 2007 is to raise $1,800 and call attention to the need to make water a human right.
