Fairfield Offers Four Summer Sessions

FAIRFIELD — This summer Fairfield University’s School of Continuing Education is offering four sessions and a wide range of courses, including three online English courses, to help students who are juggling work and family responsibilities. The 135 courses offered this summer are scheduled as daytime or evening four-week sessions or as week-long intensive courses.

The online English courses “Composition & Prose Literature” and “Introduction to Literature” (also offered in the traditional, on-campus setting), as well as an online course in “Technical Writing,” will be offered. Students in the online course will meet at the beginning of the session and then work from their computers at home to complete assignments and communicate with the instructor.

Some of the Arts & Sciences courses this summer will look at the “Modernization of China and Japan,” and courses in “America in Film,” “The Irish Short Story,” “Contemporary Moral Problems,” “Media and Politics,” and “Theories of Personality.”

Among the business offerings is a course on the “Principles of International Business,” to be taught by Vincent Short, a visiting professor from England and France. Other business courses include “International Management,”  “Consumer Behavior,” and “Advertising and Promotion.”

Several courses in nursing include “Health Assessment,” “Basic Health Problems,” “Health Promotion,” and “Leadership & Management in Nursing.”

Non-credit courses are available in computer graphics and interior design, as well as the new “Spectrum Microsoft Training and Certification.”
