The Genealogy Club of Newtown will hold its next meeting, via Zoom, on Wednesday, April 14, at 7 pm.

The program will be “DNA Basics — Getting a Solid Foundation.” Peggy Jude will offer the 60-minute introduction to DNA testing, covering the types of tests available, the basic inheritance of DNA, the DNA testing companies, what to do with results, and how to start research using DNA.

Jude will be speaking from Florida, where she is the vice president and a board member of Manatee Genealogical Society. She leads both the DNA and the Technology for Genealogy special interest groups.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in zoology from Iowa State University, and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Jude is a speaker, educator, and researcher who has been conducting genealogical research for her family and clients for more than 40 years. She has conducted extensive research on her family in the Midwest, and in Sweden and Scotland.

She specializes in and teaches five areas of genealogical interest: DNA, genealogical methods and records, Swedish genealogy, genealogical technology, and preserving family history and heirlooms.

Following a successful career as a global human resources executive, Jude opened her genealogical business. She is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, a graduate of ProGen, and an alumnus of multiple advanced genealogical institutes.

All are welcome to join the April 14 meeting free of charge. Genealogy Club members will receive an e-mail invitation to the event. Others who would like to join the program should register by sending an e-mail by sending their name, address, and phone number by April 12 to genclubnewtownct.secretary@gmail.com. A program link will be sent in response.

Those planning to attend are asked to join the meeting at 6:45 so they can be admitted to the room before the meeting begins promptly at 7 pm.

Reservations are requested by tonight for anyone who would like to join the program being hosted on Wednesday by The Genealogy Club of Newtown.
