Time To Regroup For Educational Excellence
To the Editor:
My name is Joan Alexander and I moved to Newtown 11 months ago and “Love It”... The warmth I have felt from neighbors, St Rose of Lima, Caraluzzi’s, both Garden Clubs has been a testament to the sound minds of the New England States, and I Thank You!!
EDUCATION; I read our Newtown Bee newspaper Cover to Cover … I was stunned by the article “Why You Should Not Vote (April 23rd) For The BOE Budget” (The Letter Hive; April 5, 2024).
In my previous life I was a children’s advocate, a position appointed by the Governor of North Carolina … Education our hope to secure the future of our young people…
The BOE’S budget going from $49 million a year to $90 million, schools testing in the top 7% to a failing 64.9% … 1752 Students have left our schools ... I would have to ask??
What is going on???
I would agree, with Mr Pisani time to Vote No and let’s regroup for the excellence we know is here!
Thank you, again for the privilege of living in Newtown.
Joan Alexander
