MOUNT KISCO, New York – The Horse Show 2003, an exhibition of art inspired by the horse, will open on Friday, May 2, at the Northern Westchester Center for the Arts at 272 North Bedford Road in Mount Kisco, New York.

The month-long exhibition, which kicks off with a wine and cheese reception from 6 to 8:30 pm, includes paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography and original prints by more than 20 artists from across the northeast.

This is the seventh year NWCA will present its popular exhibition of art about the multi-dimensional nature of the horse. The exhibition will also reflect the divers nature of the artists’ relationships with horses.

Alan Reingold, who holds a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design, is the Visual Arts Director for NWCA and the show curator.

“The aim of the exhibition this year is to present an original perspective on the horse,” explains Mr Reingold. “The works selected for the show are an artist’s unique vision of the horse or an expression of their own individual experience with the horse. We have shied away from typical ‘equestrian art’ and we have assembled a group of very fine artists.”

The exhibition will run through May 30. Vijny Kumar, Patricia Powers, Chris Shorc (of Bethel), Katherine Ross (of Westport) and Peggy Westphal (of Southbury) are among the artists included.

NWCA is located in the heart of Westchester horse country. Each year, the Center mounts an exhibit that focuses on horses and draws many artists from Westchester and Fairfield Counties, as well as artists from New York and Boston. For more than 20 years, the NWCA gallery has featured numerous juried and invitational exhibitions.

The gallery is open from 9 am to 6 pm.
