Heroin Talk Postponed Due To Weather
On Monday, April 21, John Hamilton, LMFT, renowned authority on drug addiction and treatment, from Liberation Meridian Guenster (LMG) programs and advisor for National Institute of Drug Addiction (NIDA), will present two talks, one for parents from 7 to 8 pm and one for youth from 8:30 to 9:30 pm, on the growing problem of heroin use among young people. He was scheduled to speak April 7, but due to inclement weather the talk was postponed.
The talk for adults will take place in the Memorial Room at Newtown Youth Services, 41-A Main Street, and will be free of charge. Parents are strongly urged to attend, to learn what has brought this deadly drug, especially in its cheap synthetic form, to suburban communities like Newtown as a recreational drug of choice for kids who âseem to have it all.â
Young people who are curious about this trend, worried about friends, or worried about their community are encouraged to come to the later talk, which will be held upstairs in the Youth Services Parents Corner, and will be confidential and attended only by Mr Hamilton and the youth. For more information, call Youth Services at 270-4335.
