Donate Blood To Honor Mom

FARMINGTON –– As Mother’s Day approaches, sons and daughters across the state can show Mom their appreciation by passing on the “gift of life” to others by donating blood in her honor.

From now through May 10, the American Red Cross Connecticut Blood Services Region is providing Mother’s Day cards for all blood donors. The card states: “Mom, in honor of your precious gift of life to me, I have given the gift of life to someone else by donating a unit of blood. Happy Mother’s Day.”

Donating blood is an act of kindness that allows strangers to celebrate another birthday, give birth to a child, or share another holiday with family and friends.

Anyone who is in generally good health, is 17 or older and weighs 110 pounds or more, usually is eligible to give blood.

The next Red Cross blood drive in Newtown will be held at Edmond Town Hall on Monday, May 5, from 8:30 am to 6:45 pm.

Call 800-GIVE-LIFE (800-448-3543) to make an appointment for any American Red Cross blood drive in Connecticut. Appointments can also be requested by visiting the website at www.bloodct.org,
