Vote No To Pickleball Court
To the Editor:
There has been talk lately of building a pickleball court in town on the Fairfield Hills property. This was going to cost between two hundred fifty to two hundred ninety thousand dollars. There is a donation of twenty-five thousand dollars towards the project. This is not money well spent.
There are other things in town that would make more sense to spend the money on. Services for the elderly, and disabled veterans. How about fixing the roads and curbs that are in rough shape? With budgets rising and money tight, why throw money away on a pickleball court? There may be a small number of people that want it, but is this right for the entire town?
Can’t the town repurpose a tennis court? What about the town’s parks department building it? These people are capable of building the court. We need to be smart about what the town spends taxpayer’s money on.
Let’s do what’s right for the entire town, not just a few. Get out April 23 and vote No to a pickleball court.
