Girls' Lacrosse Team Topples ND, Falls To Warde
Newtown High School's girls' lacrosse team followed up its season-opening 15-3 triumph over Immaculate of Danbury with a similarly easy 17-1 triumph over host Notre Dame-Fairfield two days later, on April 5. The Nighthawks went out of conference for a tough challenge at Fairfield Warde on Saturday, April 7, and fell 11-3.
In the win over Notre Dame Lancers, Charli Condon and Alex Futterman both had three goals and two assists, Rylee Harrell scored three times and added an assist, Ali Kelleher scored twice and added a trio of assists, Dylan Zahansky scored twice and assisted on a tally, Keeley Kortze netted two goals, Lindsey Merrifield score a goal and had an assist, and Lu Hage added a goal.
Catie Gregory made three saves, and Tess Davenport stopped a shot on goal.
In the setback to Warde, Kelleher, Condon, and Futterman all scored, and Zahansky recorded an assist. Gregory and Davenport made three and two saves, respectively.
