Womenâs Center Posts New, Ongoing Support Groups
DANBURY â The Womenâs Center of Greater Danbury, which serves Newtown, recently announced a roster of upcoming support and informational group meetings including:
*Endings, an eight-week evening group for those considering or in the process of ending a marriage or relationship. Next session begins April 27.
*I AM OK! Reclaiming Your Self Esteem, a seven-week group to identify and develop skills to counter the negative factors impacting self-esteem. Next morning session begins April 30; next evening session begins April 28.
*Good Grief, a three-week evening group that explores ways to experience and work through grief over lost relationships, lost dreams, lost plans. Next session begins May 6.
Registration is required for participation in these free and confidential support groups; call 731-5200 for more information and to sign up.
In addition, the centerâs ongoing weekly drop-in groups include:
*SOAR (Survivors Overcoming Abusive Relationships) meets weekly in Danbury and New Milford; New Milford SOAR includes child care.
*Breaking the Silence meets weekly in Danbury.
*LSG (Lesbian Support Group) meets weekly in Danbury.
The Womenâs Center of Greater Danbury provides free and confidential services to prevent or lessen the trauma associated with domestic violence, sexual assault and other major life transitions to thousands of women, children and men annually.
The programs of the Womenâs Center are supported by state and local government, area United Way agencies and the people and businesses in the communities the agency serves, including Newtown, Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, Kent, New Fairfield, New Milford, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury, Sherman, Warren and Washington.
