Michelle Steuer, Tyler Petrucci, Nicole Haylon and Shannon Seaman were included on the Deanâs List for the fall 2008 semester at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. To make the Deanâs List at the university, students must complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a grade point average of 3.4 or more.
Sarah S. Holroyd of Sandy Hook won Clark Universityâs, in Worcester, Mass, U-Reka Contest with of her fellow students at the university for conceptualizing a 5k road race/walk, called âGreen Run,â to help raise awareness of environmental issues. The U-Reka Contest was created by Clark Universityâs Innovation & Entrepreneurship program to encourage students to help make improvements to the Clark campus community. Sarah and the two other students, Bonnie Unger of Woodbridge and Maria Arabatzis of Saco, Maine, used the $5,000 they earned from the contest to bring their idea to life on Sunday, April 5, on the campus and in the surrounding neighborhood.
Alexandra Vetrano was named to the Deanâs List for the autumn quarter for 2008 at Ohio State University in Columbus. Alexandra, a 2008 NHS graduate, also danced at Judson Church in New York City and at the Green Street Studios in Cambridge, Mass, over her spring break in a piece called âIndelible Marks,â created by Annie Kloppenberg, a third-year graduate student at the university.
Kyle Palo was named to the Presidentâs List for the fall 2008 semester at Southern New Hampshire University. Kyle is a junior at the university and is a double major in computer information science and finance.
Ashley Soucar of Sandy Hook and Anna Marie Unschuld of Sandy Hook made High Honors, by achieving average grades between 87 and 89, at Westover School in Middlebury.
More than 100 of the top students at the University of Connecticut, in Storrs, will present their research at the Twelfth Annual Frontiers in Undergraduate Research Poster Exhibition on Friday, April 17, from 2:30 pm until 4:30 pm, and Saturday, April 18, from 11 am until 2:30 pm, in the North and South Reading Rooms of the Wilbur Cross Building. Among those students will be Krishna Patel, a biological sciences and finance honors student who will present her work, âPotential Binding Motifs for Extracellular Metallothionein,â and Benjamin March of Sandy Hook, an animal science and pathobiology honors student who will present his work, âThe Potential Of Plant-Derived Antimicrobials For Controlling Infectious Diseases In Aquaculture.â
