State Statutes Available

State Representative John E. Stripp, R-135th District, has arranged for libraries and high schools in Easton, Newtown, Redding, and Weston to obtain copies of state statute books at no cost to the towns.

“Although they are a year old, they are still a useful research tool and can be helpful to students learning about state government in their civics classes or through their participation in Youth in Government programs,” Rep Stripp said. “The statutes can be a valuable education aid. Students writing reports about how a bill becomes law in Connecticut will find them useful, as will researchers who may need to read the actual text of a particular state law to complete a project.”

“Since the cost of purchasing a new set of statutes is about $300, distributing them to high schools and public libraries at no cost on a regular basis can mean a significant saving to the towns over the years,” Rep Stripp said.

The statute books were provided to the Easton, Newtown, Redding, and Weston libraries and to Weston High School, Newtown High School, and the Joel Barlow High School (Regional District 9), which serves students from both Redding and Easton, Rep Stripp said.
