WOODBURY â From April 16 through May 19, Beaux Arts Gallery will present an exhibition entitled âThe Garden Variety.â The gallery will host a reception on Saturday, April 21, from 4 to 6 pm.
The exhibit will present new works with the focus being the garden. Included will be works by the artists Janice Baragwanath, Stella Bloch, Edie Van Breems, Linda Casey, Laura Evans, Susan Falato, Robert Holden, Ella C. Knox, Carey McDougall, Patricia Melvin, Paula Renee, Georgia Sheron, Anda J. Styler and Suzy Taylor.
Gardens have often been a favorite subject for artists. The variety of the colors and designs of the flowers, vegetables and fruit themselves serve for interesting subjects.
The impressionist painters especially loved the garden subject. They loved to work outdoors, and the contrast of the outdoor greens with the rich vibrant colors of the flowers and plants were a perfect setting for them.
Gardens seem to allow for endless possibilities for expression. Whether set off in a country scene or a city park, gardens bring joy and grace to our everyday life.
âThe Garden Varietyâ is being offered as a treat for everyone as the winter months subside and the warmer days of spring begin to take over the weather patterns.
Beaux Arts Gallery, at 16 Sherman Hill Road, is open Monday through Saturday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm; and Sunday, 11 am to 4:30 pm. Call 203-263-3939 for additional information.
