Performers of the Week . . .

 

Kyle Tobin of the Newtown High School boys’ track team began defense of his South-West Conference hurdling championships by winning both the 110-high hurdles and 300-intermediate hurdles during the season-opening meet on Monday at Newtown High. The Nighthawks defeated Weston and Joel Barlow and tied New Milford to start the 2001 campaign at 2-0-1.

Kristin Caposella of the Newtown High School softball team fired a two-hitter and drove in the only run in a 1-0 win over Brookfield. She whiffed seven batters and walked none.
