Easter Sunday will be observed at two services. The 7:30 am dawn service will feature the lighting of the Easter lights. Following this service, the annual Easter breakfast will be served in the Fellowship Hall, starting at 8:30 am. At 9 am the Sunday School will meet for its Easter activities, including a special video presentation and an egg hunt. The Easter festival service with Holy Communion will be held at 10:30 am. An ecumenical Good Friday walk on Friday, April 13, will begin at the Brookfield Congregational Church at 10 am. The Rev Dr Peter Wiley, the Rev Susan Latourette, pastor and associate pastor of Brookfield Congregational Church, and Rev Mesnig will participate in bearing the Cross to various locations in Brookfield Center and offering meditations at each stop. The public is invited to join in the walk. An ecumenical Easter Sunday Sunrise Service will be held at 5:45 am on April 15 at Weigardt’s Farm, 23 Wisconier Road, Brookfield. The pastors of Brookfield Congregational Church and Valley Presbyterian Church will participate while Rev Mesnig will bring the message “Do You Really Believe in Resurrection?” The service will be followed by a pancake breakfast prepared and served at Brookfield Congregational Church. “Thy Kingdom Come” will be the title of the sermon by Rev Mesnig on Easter Sunday at 11 am. Special music includes a piano-organ duet by Sandra Lybe, organist and choir director, and Janet Sheppard, “Easter Chimes” by Demorest. The adult choir will sing the anthem “Christ is Risen, Let All the Earth Adore Him” by Larson, and a choral introit, “Alleluia Fanfare” by Burroughs. The Youth Choir will sing “The Whole World Sings Alleluia” by Wold. The Children’s Moment is “The Sand Dollar.”

The Senior Choir will sing for the Maundy Thursday service at 8 pm, April 12, in the Sanctuary when the Office of Tenebrae will be celebrated. The Sanctuary will be open all day on Good Friday for quiet time and prayer. Easter celebrations begin at 6 am when Sunrise Service commences at the top of Castle Hill near the Preservation Site. Lay Minister Edwin Corfey will conduct the service. A continental breakfast will be served in the undercroft of the Sanctuary immediately following. Worship services will be in the sanctuary at 9 and 11 am with the Rev Steven Gordon, senior minister, preaching, and the Rev Janice Touloukian, associate minister, and Mr Corfey assisting. “Now, O Death Where Is Thy Sting” and “Hallelujah” will be the anthems by the Senior Choir under the direction of Mary Andreotta. Philip Crevier will be at the keyboards. The White Chapel Consort Bellringers will play “Fanfare” under the direction of Carol Benson.
