James G. Woznick passed away Wednesday, March 27, after being diagnosed with cancer in 2013. The 59-year-old resident of Sandy Hook lived a fulfilling life surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born May 8, 1959, and grew up in Stratford. He was a member of Stratford High School’s Class of 1977. The Stratford native married Margaret Fitzgerald on September 14, 1991, and raised two children, son Alec and daughter Emily.

Jim was a true jack-of-all-trades, having talent and an eye for detail that was like no other. He operated his own businesses: Comfortable Living Hardwood Floors and Amazing Signs. He took pride in the work he accomplished and it showed. Previous to his companies, he worked as a security guard at Remington Arms in Stratford as well as a graphic designer.

Jim had a passion for traveling. He also loved food, and he combined the two, exploring the best dives and restaurants in the United States. Anyone that knew Jim would know he had a recommendation of where to eat, no matter the destination. The food fanatic loved to cook his own delicious creations, sharing them with friends and family whenever he could.

Jim was a true comedian, always with a joke on hand. His quick wit and love of comedy is what helped him stay so strong after being diagnosed with cancer. His strength throughout it all is inspiring to others.

While living with cancer, Jim had the utmost support and love from his family and friends. His sisters, Joan Woznick and Susan Pryor, helped provide comfort and care throughout his diagnosis and treatments. He had the love of his nieces, Tina Rembish and Jill Cutter, as well as his lifelong friends, Wayne Lovington and Blase Lutheran, who were with him every step of the way.

Jim will be dearly missed by all of the lives he has touched throughout his life. His spirit will live on through every joke, every beer, and every meal shared.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, at the St Rose of Lima, Knights of Columbus Hall, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, at 12:30 pm. The family asks for photos or memories of Jim to be shared at his memorial service. Stories and photos can also be sent to PO Box 129, Stevenson CT 06491, if you are unable to attend and would like us to share your memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to help St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital find cures and save children.
