The Library Is Part Of Newtown's Heart
The Library Is Part Of Newtownâs Heart
To the Editor:
I have recently bought my first house and chose Newtown because I find it not only charming the way one dreams of old Connecticut, but also because in the year that I rented locally, I found I was treated so nicely in various local shops and service businesses that I wanted to be where people seemed so content and pleasant. And one of the Newtownâs most wonderful gifts to its people is the beautiful library, which I now hear is to be hit with gashing budget cuts.
As a new resident but one who hopes to be here a long time paying my taxes, I am hoping that Newtown will resist the modern pull to spend money on lavish extravagances at the expense of some of the more simple pleasures. Please, please donât allow modern glitz to take away from your old, established loveliness. The library is truly part of Newtownâs heart.
