Stephen Francis Rockwell, 48, of Bradley Lane, Sandy Hook, died April 1 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mr Rockwell was born in Danbury, September 28, 1955, a son of James T. Rockwell of Spotsylvania County, Va., and the late Patricia F. Perrotti Rockwell. He was educated in Danbury, attending Henry Abbott Technical School and Western Connecticut State College. He was a freelance mechanical designer for the manufacturing industry and had worked at Bodine, Inc., of Bridgeport and the former Hughes Danbury Optical Systems. Steve was an avid bridge player and was a member of the Danbury Bridge Club.
Besides his father, he is survived by two daughters, Rachel K. Rockwell and Robin K. Rockwell, both of Newtown; a brother, Richard A. Rockwell of Sandy Hook; two sisters, Elizabeth M. Rockwell of Danbury and Sharon L. Hutchings of Columbus, Ohio; his fiancée, Crystal M. Stauffer and her daughter Phoenix of Naugatuck; his former wife, Patricia Marble Rockwell of Newtown; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

A memorial service was held on April 4 at the Hull Funeral Home, Sixty Division Street, Danbury. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.
