Former Local Quilter
Wins Another Award
Connie Harris Farrington has been notified by the Quilterâs Guild of Dallas that she received its Utterly Outrageous Women Award at its recent Dallas Quilt Celebration 2004. Mrs Harrington recently moved to Queensbury, N.Y. She was previously a long-time resident of Newtown.
Mrs Harringtonâs art quilts have won numerous awards at nationally acclaimed quilt shows throughout the country. She is a quilt teacher and lecturer in the tri-state area, having retired in 2003 from a career as accounting supervisor, business analyst and technical writer in the medical instruments field.
This latest prize was one of five special awards given by the team of judges at the Dallas show where several hundred quilts were on display. Mrs Harringtonâs wall hanging, entitled âHow Big Is Your Can?â pictures a large Slim-Fast can, Chopped Liver flavor, surrounded by scrawny beady-eyed women in a frenzy of exercise.
In addition to a large ribbon, Mrs Harrington received a check for $100 and a specially printed T-shirt with the words Utterly Outrageous Woman.
