DUI Arrest
DUI Arrest
Police said that they were investigating a report of erratic driving at about 6:24 pm April 1, when they encountered Marcel Boisvert, 57, of Danbury in a vehicle on Commerce Road. Police said they approached Boisvert, who was sitting in a vehicleâs driverâs seat, and then interviewed him.
Boisvert failed field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence, police said. Police held Boisvert on $250 bail for an April 2 arraignment in Danbury Superior Court.
Botsford Crash
Police report a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of South Main Street, Botsford Hill Road, and Meadow Brook Road at about 8 am March 31.
Motorist Jose Colon, 48, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 1989 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck, was stopped at a red traffic signal on northbound South Main Street, police said.
Motorist Marilynn Giglio, 30, of Norwalk, who was driving a 2001 Audi A-4 Quattro sedan northward on South Main Street, then struck the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said. There were no injuries.
Police issued Giglio an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. Police additionally issued Giglio a written warning for failure to carry an automotive insurance identification card.
Alcohol Charges
Police report they lodged alcohol-related charges against two local residents on the night of April 3 at the Newtown Teen Center at 53 Church Hill Road.
Police charged Amel Samuels, 21, of 60 Walnut Tree Hill Road with providing alcohol to a minor. Police charged Lyle Murphy, 17, of 6 Fir Tree Lane with possession of alcohol by a minor.
Police released both males on written promises to appear April 20 in Danbury Superior Court.
Warrant Arrest
Late on the night of April 4, state police conducted an arrest warrant service operation, executing outstanding warrants against people wanted for past offenses.
As part of that operation, state police served a warrant against Carlos Pastora, 26, of Bridgeport, who was wanted by Newtown police.
Newtown police then charged Pastora with failure to appear in court, driving under the influence, and failure to drive to the right. The charges stem from Pastoraâs failure to appear in court in 2000 in connection with a 1999 incident, Newtown police said.
Police held Pastora on $750 bail for an April 5 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
DUI Arrest
Police report that while on patrol early on the morning of April 4, they spotted motorist Ronald Dievert, 34, of 12 Turkey Roost Road driving erratically near the intersection of Botsford Hill Road and Button Shop Road. Police said they stopped Dievert to investigate and then gave him field sobriety tests.
Police said they charged Dievert with driving under the influence, after which they released him from custody on $50 bail for an April 15 court appearance.
Church Hill/Queen
An accident involving two sport-utility vehicles took place at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Queen Street about 11:12 pm April 2, police said.
The crash involved motorist Ian Armitage, 16, of 2 Old Green Road, who had been driving a 1988 Jeep Cherokee northward on Queen Street, and motorist Jason Goclowski, 30, of Monroe, who had been driving a 1972 Chevrolet Blazer eastward on Church Hill Road, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Armitage a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at an intersection.
Cadillac Vs Deer
Motorist Angelo Bodetti, 20, of 15 Cemetery Road, who was driving a 2003 Cadillac CTS sedan southward on Toddy Hill Road, near its intersection with Quarry Ridge Road, at about 9:45 pm April 2, collided with a deer in the road, police said. Bodetti was not injured in the mishap, police said.
Ford Vs Toyota
Motorist Susan DiCiacco, 51, of Danbury, who was driving a 1994 Toyota Camry, was stopped on eastbound Route 34, with a turn signal flashing and waiting to make a left turn onto Liberty Drive on the night of April 4, when the Toyota was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Sandra Rennie, 41, of Stratford, who was driving a 1993 Ford Taurus, police report.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged in the crash, police said. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Rennie to Danbury Hospital for treatment, police said. Police issued Rennie an infraction ticket for following too closely.
Tractor-Trailer
Tractor-trailer trucker William McMahon, 46, of Guilford was turning right from Wasserman Way onto Route 34 at about 4:45 pm April 3, when the truck was struck by an auto that passed the truck on the left, police said.
Police said the offending white Dodge Intrepid with California marker plates then turned right from Wasserman Way onto Route 34 and kept traveling.
McMahon was not injured. Police ask anyone with information on the identity of the Dodgeâs driver to contact them at 426-5841.
Larceny Charge
Midday on April 2, police charged Ryan Novak, 16, of 8 Aspen Lane with sixth degree larceny in connection with an incident at Newtown High School.
Police said Novak allegedly took several undisclosed items from a locker room at the school. After processing the case, police released Novak into the custody of a guardian. Novak is scheduled to appear April 20 in Danbury Superior Court.
Warrant
On April 1, after learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Don Zemo, III, 39, of Woodbury, turned himself over to police and was charged with driving under suspension and with driving without automotive insurance.
Police said the charges stem from an early February motor vehicle accident on Walnut Tree Hill Road. In that nighttime crash, Zemo was driving a 2000 Ford pickup truck northward on an icy Walnut Tree Hill Road and then lost control of the vehicle, police said. The truck climbed an embankment and then rolled onto its side. After the crash, Zemo was transported to Danbury Hospital for medical evaluation.
Following the warrantâs service on April 1, Zemo posted $100 bail and was released for an April 15 court appearance.
Moving Violations
Police report that on April 4, they charged motorist Sharon Carroll, 41, of 10 Hitfield Road with driving under suspension, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without automotive insurance, and with failure to drive to the right. After posting $100 bail, police released Carroll for an April 27 court appearance.
Warrant Case
State police report that Newtown police stopped Jonathan Lambo, 19, of 8 Country Squire Road on the morning of April 4 and learned that there was an outstanding arrest warrant pending on Lambo from Waterbury Superior Court.
Newtown police held Lambo for state police, who then charged him with second degree failure failure to appear in court in connection with a past offense.
Lambo posted $250 bail and was released for an April 14 court appearance in Waterbury.
I-84 DUI
State police report a two-car accident on eastbound Interstate 84, about 4,000 feet west of the Rochambeau Bridge, on the night of April 2.
State police said motorist Scott Gagner, 40, of Southbury, who was driving a 1993 Nissan Sentra coupe, struck the rear end of a 2002 Acura 3.2-TL driven by Bryan Atherton, 34, of 4 Still Hill Road. There were no injuries.
The Nissan then left the scene of the accident, state police said.
Gagner was then located and determined to be intoxicated, state police said. Gagner was charged with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, state police said.
Gagner is slated to appear in court to answer the charges.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Andrew Lambo, 18, of 8 Country Squire Road turned himself over to police on April 6 and was charged with second degree failure to appear in court, driving under suspension, and improper display of a marker plate.
Police said the warrant was issued after Lambo failed to appear in Danbury Superior Court in connection with a March 5 incident, in which he was charged with driving under suspension. Police held Lambo on $1,500 bail for an appearance in court on April 6.
South Main Accident
While traveling northward on South Main Street, near its intersection with Wasserman Way at about 2 pm April 2, motorist Robert B. Rogers, Jr, 57, of 2 Summit Road, who was driving a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder, slowed for traffic conditions, and was then struck from behind by northbound motorist John Barry, 75, of 9-A Washbrook Road, who was driving a 1998 Mercury Marquis, according to police.
There were no injuries. Police issued Barry an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Honda Rollover
Motorist Sarah OâSullivan, 21, of 38 Great Ring Road, was traveling eastward on Wasserman Way about 2 am April 2, when while attempting to light a cigarette, she lost sight of the roadway, police said.
The Honda struck some curbing near Wasserman Wayâs intersection with Mile Hill Road South and left the roadway. The vehicle traveled across some turf along the eastbound road shoulder and then completely rolled over, coming to rest on its wheels, police said.
OâSullivan was transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Police issued OâSullivan in infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.
Minivan Vs Minivan
At about 7:15 am March 30, motorist Kathleen Mayer, 18, of 38 Horseshoe Ridge Road, who was driving a 1987 Plymouth Voyager, turned left from Walnut Tree Hill Road onto eastbound Church Hill Road, police said.
In making that turn, the Plymouth drove directly in front of motorist Kimberly Bernal, 34, of Danbury, who was driving a 1997 Dodge Caravan westward on Church Hill Road, police said.
The two minivans collided. Police issued Mayer a written warning for a stop sign violation.
Toddy Hill Crash
Police report a three-vehicle accident on a wet Toddy Hill Road about 8:40 am April 1.
The accident involved motorist Matthew Iannone, 25, of New Milford, who was driving a 1993 Chevrolet C-3500 pickup truck; motorist Gary Escoda, 43, of 32 Botsford Hill Road, who was driving a 2000 Dodge Caravan; and motorist Robert Laskay, 57, of Monroe, who was driving a 1991 Chevrolet Lumina, police said. Escoda experienced neck soreness, police said. Police issued Iannone an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Honda Vs Nissan
Police report a two-car accident, which occurred along a lengthy stretch of South Main Street, near its intersection with Ethan Allen Road, at about 2:30 am April 4.
Motorist Sarah Krzysztalowicz, 22, of Monroe, who was driving a 1996 Honda Accord northward, drifted off the northbound road shoulder and glanced off a utility pole, after which the Honda reentered the road and collided with southbound motorist Kevin OâConnor, 34, of Monroe, who was driving a 1996 Nissan Altima, police said.
The Nissan continued traveling southward for about 500 feet before stopping, police said.
The Honda continued traveling northward, went into a spin, and then came to rest in the intersection of South Main Street and Ethan Allen Road, police said.
There were no injuries, according to police. Police issued Krzysztalowicz an infarction ticket for failure to drive to the right.
Chain Reaction
Police report a three-vehicle chain reaction crash on southbound South Main Street about 11:30 am April 3.
Motorist Shane Chontos, 31, of Thomaston, Maine, who was driving a 2000 Honda CRV, stopped and was waiting to turn left into a driveway at 87 South Main Street, after which motorist Philip Saravis, 45, of 15 Winding Brook Road, who was driving a 2002 Acura MDX, stopped behind the Honda, police said.
Motorist Charlotte Hilse, 63, of 36 Dock Drive, who was driving a 1997 Ford LXE station wagon, then struck the Acura from behind, pushing the Acura into the rear end of Honda, police said.
Police said that three passengers in the Acura â Lydia Saravis, 44; Marissa Saravis, 11; and Evan Saravis, 6, all of 15 Winding Brook Road â all reported neck and back pain and were then transported to Danbury Hospital by local ambulance volunteers. Newtown Hook and Ladder firefighters went to the accident.
Police issued Hilse an infraction ticket for traveling an unreasonable distance apart.
Fireworks Incident
Police report they charged three youths in connection with a fireworks incident April 6 at Newtown High School.
Police said they charged Quentin Ham, 16, of 5 Birch Rise Drive with third degree arson, possession of explosives, and disorderly conduct. Police charged an unidentified boy under age 16 and Justin St Louis-Keane, 16, of 58 Walnut Tree Hill Road each with possession of explosives and disorderly conduct.
At about 12:45 pm, a small firework, known as a Red Devil M-1000, was set off in an empty school rest room, causing minor damage, police said. That firework is classified as an âexplosive,â police said.
Ham and St Louis-Keane are scheduled for April 22 appearances in Danbury Superior Court. The unidentified juvenile is scheduled to appear in Danbury Juvenile Court on April 19.
Hawleyville Deer
While traveling southward on Hawleyville Road at about 8 pm April 4, motorist Rachel Bogner, 21, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1996 Honda Accord, collided with a deer, police said. Bogner was not injured. Police took no enforcement.
Nissan Vs BMW
Police report that motorist James Paneltiere, 88, of 76 St George Place, who was driving a 1998 Nissan Altima, was stopped at a red traffic signal on Church Hill Road at its intersection with the Interstate 84 Exit 10 eastbound off-ramp, at about 4:50 pm April 7, when he backed up into a stopped 1990 BMW S-35-I sedan driven by Alexandra Cameron Braley, 22, of 129 Hanover Road. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Paneltiere for unsafe backing.
