West Conn Hosts Alcohol And Drug Awareness Day

DANBURY — Western Connecticut State University is hosting a number of activities honoring its Alcohol and Drug Awareness Day from 11 am to 2 pm on Monday, April 12, outside the Student Center on the university’s midtown campus.

The day will feature representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), the sober motorcycle group, the Chosen, and others offering interactive activities emphasizing the dangers of substance abuse. Participants will have the opportunity to try out “the Simulator,” a device that simulates a drunken driving experience in a safe environment and “the Convincer,” which replicates a crash impact to stress the importance of seatbelt safety.

Presented by the university’s Office of Alcohol and Other Substance Abuse Prevention and the Drug and Alcohol Awareness Task Force, the event will focus on the message that people can have a good time without consuming alcohol or drugs. The event will be free and open to the public. For more information, contact Sharon Guck, coordinator of the Office of Alcohol and Other Substance Abuse Prevention at 203-837-8899.
