Child Care Provides ReferralsÂ
BROOKFIELD â Supplemental Child Care Services, Inc., is celebrating the beginning of its 22nd year of services to the child care providers and the children of Connecticut. This private, non-profit agency, located in Grayâs Bridge Common in Brookfield, sponsors the Child Care Food Program.
This program is part of the school lunch program and trains family day care home providers in nutrition, as well as health and safety. These license homes are also reimbursed for meals/snacks served to the children enrolled.
Operating this USDA Program under a State Department of Education grant, Supplemental also visits all homes under their sponsorship at least three times each year, to observe meals and oversee menus, as well as do additional individual health and safety training. Many of these visits are unannounced. More than 10 million federal dollars have been distributed, and more than 1,000 day care homes serviced, through Supplemental Child Care.
As part of their services to the local community, Supplemental also does referrals for parents looking for day care; call 775-1812 for referral services.
If you are interested in finding out more about the Child Care Food Program, or would like to know how to become a licensed child care provider, call Supplemental at 775-8971.
