Police said that on the night of April 2, they received a report concerning an erratic driver traveling on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Great Ring Road, so they investigated.

Police then located the vehicle in question near 104 Glen Road and stopped its driver.

Police said they arrested motorist Fredy Geovanni Sanchez, 33, of West Haven on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right.

After arrest processing, police released Sanchez on $100 bail for an arraignment on the charges on April 19 in Danbury Superior Court.

Amid snowy conditions at about 5:16 pm on April 4, motorist Leonard Sommer, 20, of Bethel, who was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier eastward on Sugar Street, went off the right road shoulder, striking a curbside residential mailbox and a utility pole, police said.

The impact resulted in suspected minor injuries, police said. Police report they issued Sommer a written warning for making a restricted turn.

During snowy, slippery conditions about 4:39 pm on April 4, motorist Ashby Dickinson, 45, of Easton, who was driving a 2006 Toyota Corolla sedan downhill on Hawleyville Road, near its intersection with Farrell Road, lost control of the auto and then struck the right curb, went onto an embankment and then reentered the roadway, colliding with a 2014 Ram pickup truck being driven in the opposite direction by Jason Conley, 35, of 29 Butterfield Road, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they gave Dickinson an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.

During snowy conditions at about 4:09 pm on April 4, near 151 Mt Pleasant Road, motorist Blanca Lincango, 36, of Danbury, who was driving a 2005 Kia Sorento SUV, struck the rear end of 2015 Lexus ES-350 sedan driven by Francis Sullivan, 58, of Milford, police said.

There were no injuries. Police report they gave Lincango an infraction for following too closely and for driving without a license.

Amid snowy conditions about 6:10 pm on April 4, motorist Shahid Green 37, of Shelton was driving a 1998 Nissan Maxima sedan northward and downhill on Taunton Lane, near Mt Pleasant Road, when the vehicle skidded on the snowy road, hit the right curb and then struck a tree, police report.

There were no injuries. Police issued Green an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.

At about 3:17 am on April 1, motorist David Leclerc, 22, of South Windsor was driving a 2012 Ford Focus compact auto eastward on Botsford Hill Road, and while negotiating a curve in the road, the Ford went off the right road shoulder, striking an embankment, police said.

Both Leclerc and a passenger refused medical attention, police said. Police said they verbally warned Leclerc for making a restricted turn.

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the five-way flagpole intersection of Main Street, Church Hill Road, and West Street about 9:09 am on March 31.

In that incident, motorist Jeffrey Petersen, 26, of Woodbury, who was driving a 2013 Ford Focus C-Max compact auto westward on Church Hill, stopped at a stop sign and then proceeded into the intersection where the Ford collided with a 2011 Mazda CX-9 SUV driven by Maryann O'Connor, 44, of 32 Ashford Lane, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Petersen an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.

Motorist Joseph Knapik, 24, of 55 Platts Hills Road was driving a 2004 Subaru Legacy auto southward on Brushy Hill Road, near Deep Brook Road, about 1:06 am on March 31, when while negotiating a left curve in the road, the vehicle went off the right road shoulder and then struck a utility pole, police said. The pole snapped into two pieces near the ground.

Police said Knapik explained that a deer had entered the roadway, so he swerved to the right to avoid the animal, but struck the pole.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Knapik an infraction for making a restricted turn.

Newtown police report that late on the night of March 31, motorist Helena Flake, 21, of New Milford was driving a 2008 Kia Rio auto westward on Church Hill Road, when she struck an unoccupied 2000 Jeep Cherokee SUV, which was parked on the right shoulder of Church Hill Road near Dayton Street, and then continued driving westward on Church Hill Road.

State police report that Flake then entered the nearby Exit 10 on-ramp for westbound Interstate 84 and then lost control of the Kia, after which the vehicle struck about 80 linear feet of guardcabling. There were no injuries.

State police arrested Flake on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane. State police released Flake on $500 bail.

Concerning the accident on Church Hill Road, town police arrested Flake on charges of evading responsibility and making a restricted turn. Town police released Flake on $250 bail.

Flake is scheduled to appear on April 14 in Danbury Superior Court to answer all four charges.

Police report that motorist Anna Demasi, 31, of 18 Split Rock Road was driving a 2012 Jeep Patriot SUV on Boggs Hill Road, near its intersection with Head O' Meadow Road, about 10:40 pm on April 2, when while negotiating a curve on the wet road, the Jeep crossed the center line and then struck a utility pole off the left road shoulder, after which it traveled into a wooded area and struck a tree.

Police said Demasi told them that she was not injured, but she was transported to Danbury Hospital for a medical evaluation. Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the accident scene. The accident is under investigation.

A two-vehicle accident occurred on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, about 3:27 pm on April 1.

State police said motorist James Kuhar, 52, of Seymour, who was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, stopped for traffic conditions, and was then struck from behind by motorist James Corbo, 24, of Shelton, who was driving a 2006 Nissan Sentra.

There were no injuries. Corbo received an infraction for following too closely, according to state police.

At about 8:17 am on March 29 on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 10, motorist Ce Quin, 48, of Southington, who was driving a 2011 Honda Odyssey minivan, slowed for heavy traffic, and was then struck from behind by motorist Slade Mongelli, 24, of Southbury, who was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck, state police said.

Quin was checked for pain at the scene by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, state police said. Mongelli failed to drive a reasonable distance apart, state police said.

Motorist Zachary Seaman, 26, of 96 Hanover Road was driving a 1996 Buick Roadmaster sedan southward on a wet Hanover Road, north of its intersection with Silver City Road, at about 10:50 pm on April 1, when Seaman failed to negotiate a curve in the road to the left and the vehicle then struck some guardrailing, causing the Buick to spin about, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Seaman an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions.

Police report that sometime between 3 pm on April 2, and 1:45 pm on April 3, someone stole an air compressor after entering a garage through an unlocked door at a Berkshire Road property in the vicinity of Zoar Road. Police are investigating and ask anyone with knowledge of the theft to contact them at the police station at 203-426-5841.

Police said motorist Maria Tobia, 67, of Southbury was driving a 2010 Honda CR-V SUV westward near 47 Church Hill Road at about 2:36 pm on April 3, and then stopped in attempting to make a right turn, after which eastbound motorist Barbara Formica, 44, of 11 Founders Lane, who was driving a 2015 Ford Explorer SUV, attempted to pass the Honda on the right.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Formica a written warning for passing on the right.

Motorist Vinh Nguyen, 53, of Bridgeport was driving a 2015 Toyota RAV-4 SUV northward on South Main Street at about 2:23 pm on April 1, and was attempting to turn right to enter Prospect Drive, when motorist Stephen Vernik, 28, of Monroe, who was driving a 2013 Nissan Nissan Sentra northward behind the Toyota, became distracted by an automotive navigation unit and struck the rear end of the Toyota, police said.

There were no injuries. Police report they issued Vernik a written warning for distracted driving and for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Police report a two-vehicle accident near 43 Main Street about 6 pm on April 1.

In that incident, southbound motorist Christian Klein, 19, of 16 Cedar Hill Road, who was driving a 2002 Acura 3.2 TL sedan, struck the rear end of southbound motorist Jonathan Kost, 46, of 46 Walnut Tree Hill Road, who was driving a 2014 Subaru Outback, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Klein for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

At about 5:30 pm on March 29, motorist Kayla Ward, 17, of 3 Patricia Lane was driving a 2002 Nissan Sentra westward on Dodgingtown Road, near Jacklin Road, and then stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Nissan was struck from behind by westbound motorist Matthew Thelen, 44, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2013 Hyundai Sonata, police said.

There were no injuries. Police report they issued Thelen an infraction for failure to renew an automotive registration and for failure to renew a driver's license. Police also verbally warned Thelen for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

At about 1:11 pm on March 29, motorist Osbaldo Rodriguez, 44, of Clementon, N.J., was driving a 2000 Dodge B-25 truck southward on South Main Street, near Elm Drive, when a piece of plywood fell off the Dodge's roof and struck the hood of the southbound vehicle traveling behind it, which was a 2002 Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by Paul Pirleoni, 55, of 13 Fern Lane, police said.

There were no injuries. Rodriguez received an infraction for driving with an unsecured load.

Police report a two-vehicle collision in wet conditions at the intersection of Mile Hill Road and Queen Street about 3:12 pm on April 4.

The accident involved motorist Dawn Mooney, 59, of Easton, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, and motorist Dongmei Gu, 53, of Monroe, who was driving a 2009 Lexus RX-350 SUV, police said.

There were no injuries, Police said Mooney received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way at an intersection.

Motorist Brian Kennedy, 57, of 33 Buttonball Drive, who was driving a 2010 Honda Accord westward on Church Hill Road at about 9 am on April 2, stopped in preparing to make a left turn into the driveway at 54 Church Hill Road, after which the Honda was struck from behind by westbound motorist Brian Kerins, 17, of 28 Iris Trail, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Sienna minivan, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Kerins an infraction for following too closely.
