An Artist Of Bold Colors & Imagination, Next At SCAN

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will welcome Anda Styler of Sherman for its program on Wednesday, April 13. Ms Styler will demonstrate painting a landscape in acrylics. The program will begin at 7:30 pm and will be in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole).

All are welcome and admission is free.

The Art Collector Magazine featured Ms Styler’s work in its June 2007 issue with a double page spread. Her painting and techniques have been published in two books by Northlight Publishers.

Ms Styler has four large paintings commissioned and placed in the permanent collection of Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She is represented by four galleries in Connecticut, Harrison Gallery in Williamstown, Mass., Granary Gallery in West Tisbury, Mass., and Fountainside Gallery in Wilmington, N.C.

Ms Styler earned a bachelor of arts degree from Parsons in NYC. She has won numerous awards for her work. Recently she won second place in the Northlight Cover Competition for their catalogue of books.

Her work is well received because she connects to the viewer with mood and atmosphere. Ms Styler is particularly drawn to the magic of the Litchfield hills and the New England landscape. She captures the light in a landscape and using reality, bold color and imagination brings her picture to life.

Reservations are not necessary for SCAN programs, but additional information is available by contacting Ruth Newquist at 203-426-6654.
