Reception For Potential Volunteers

At Lockwood-Mathews Mansion

NORWALK — The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum invites persons interested in volunteering at the museum to a wine and cheese reception on Tuesday, April 12, at 5:30 pm.

“The volunteer program has been recently expanded with many new and interesting ways for [the public] to help this National Historic Landmark to reach its goals of increasing tourism, membership and funding,” said volunteer coordinator Elizabeth Montgomery. “We have more opportunities, including openings for docents, monitors, collections and education assistants, exhibits coordinators, plus office, gift shop, public relations, special events, and fundraising positions.”

“We have a full calendar of upcoming events and need help,” said Marjorie St Aubyn, the museum’s executive director. Upcoming events include a concert series, Music at the Mansion, featuring the Armstrong Chamber Concerts on April 9 and May 21; a spring garden show, April 30-May 1; an exhibition, “Rails to Riches: Model Trains”; a Victorian Ice Cream Social scheduled for July 17; and the 28th Annual LMMM Antiques Show the weekend of October 29-30.

To make a reservation for the wine and cheese reception, call 203-838-9799. The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum is at 295 West Avenue.
