High School Incident
Police report they arrested two Newtown High School students on the morning of April 5 at the school.
Following an investigation by school administrators and police, a 17-year-old male student was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
Eric Egdahl, 18, who had been with the 17-year-old at the time, then became hostile and combative toward a school administrator regarding the investigation and was consequently charged with breach of peace, police said.
Both youths were transported to the police station for arrest processing, after which they were released for April 14 appearances in Danbury Superior Court, police said.
South Main Sideswipe
Police report a two-vehicle accident on northbound South Main Street about 6:24 pm April 4.
Northbound motorist Luciana Rizio, 28, of Monroe, who was driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee sport-utility vehicle, slowed to make a left turn into Buzz-s Mobil at 286 South Main Street, police said.
Northbound motorist Jennifer Barillari, 23, of 15 Old Castle Drive, who was driving a 2001 Volvo S-40 sedan behind the Jeep, told police that she attempted to stop, but then swerved to the right in trying to avoid a collision with the Jeep, police said.
The Volvo then sideswiped the Jeep. There were no injuries. Police issued Barillari a written warning for passing on the right.
