Chamber Supports Tsunami Relief Fund
Chamber of Commerce President Pat Linnell of Linnell Real Estate presented a $1,500 check to Alan Clavette, representing the Rotary Foundation for the Tsunami Relief Fund.
Newtown Rotary is in contact with Rotary district clubs in the region affected by the devastating tsunami including Indonesia, Thailand, and India. As a sister organization, Newtown Rotary in conjunction with the Reed School Interact Club has been receiving specific needs lists for goods and services desperately needed and have been coordinating efforts to deliver the goods and services without overhead costs. One hundred percent of the money raised will go directly to relief efforts as all Rotarians involved are volunteers.
The international disaster occurred in December 26, just prior to the chamberâs annual dinner dance. On behalf of the chamber, the chamber Board of Directors agreed to donate a portion of the event proceeds to the relief effort.
For more information about the Rotary Foundation and how to contribute to this on-going tsunami relief effort, contact Alan Clavette at 426-2080.
