Carmela M.   DeVietro

Carmela M. DeVietro, 81, of Bridgeport, a retired employee of St Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, in the medical records department, died April 3, at St Vincent’s Medical Center.

Survivors include her beloved family, her sisters-in-law, Gloria DeVietro of Newtown and Jean DeVietro of Bridgeport; her sisters, Phyliss Cascella of Bridgeport and Antoinette Piantedosi and husband, Anthony, of Bridgeport; many nieces and nephews; 30 great-nieces and great-nephews; and five great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Anna Sciarapa, and three brothers, Michael, Angelo, and Vincent DeVietro.

She was born in Laterezza, Italy, on June 2, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Ferdinando and Stella (Spinosa) DeVietro, and was a Bridgeport resident most of her life.

The funeral was April 7 in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, Bridgeport, and in Raphael’s Church, Bridgeport. Entombment was in St Michael Chapel Mausoleum, Stratford.

The family requested memorial donations be made to St Raphael’s Church, 162 Oak street, Bridgeport, CT 06604 or St Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation, 2800 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT 06606.
