Antiques Fair Will Benefit Danbury Museum

DANBURY — The Great Danbury Antiques Fair will take place the weekend of April 15-17 at the PAL Building. The event is a fundraiser for Danbury Museum & Historical Society.

The show will open with a preview party on Friday night from 6 to 9 pm. Wine and refreshments will be served plus the evening will be the first opportunity to shop with the 57 dealers who promise to bring their most exciting merchandise.

Tickets are $30; call the museum at 743-5200 for reservations.

The antiques show continues Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm, with admission of $6.

The PAL Building, at 25 Hayestown Road, is easily reached from I-84 westbound Exit 6 or eastbound Exit 5. Follow the yellow signs.

Dealers will include D & D Antiques of Ridgefield, offering antique porcelains and glass; Heron House Antiques, of Sharon, 19th to early 20th Century British, European and American small antiques with an emphasis on quality culinary items; Poverty Meadows Merchantiques, Newtown, vintage functional items such as textiles, kitchen collectibles, typewriters, lamps, costume jewelry, eyeglasses, hats, plus a section devoted to “Made in CT.”

Also participating will be S & H Rugs, Fair Lawn, N.J., with antique handmade rugs; Plenty and Grace, Greene, Maine, country and city American antiques for the unique home and garden; Witchtree Antiques, Woodbury, English glass, silver and china, Oriental porcelains and English furniture; Poverty Hollow Enterprises of Redding Ridge, with English country furniture, paintings and accessories; Charles and Lucille Berg Antiques, South Easton, Mass., American antique furniture and furnishings of the Colonial and Federal era.

Two antiquarian book dealers will participate. Leonard Brook Rare Books, Coatesville, Penn., emphasizes dogs, cats and horses, plus children’s illustrations, and Colophon Books, Layton, N.J., with antiquarian books and antique scientific instruments.

Dealers will also be offering antique maps, state and international maps, botanical and zoological prints, glass, china, transfer ware, ephemera, jewelry, paintings, period furniture, linens, pottery, coins, and much more.
