Adath Israel To Break Ground

For New Synagogue

Congregation Adath Israel of Newtown is planning groundbreaking ceremonies for the new synagogue and Hebrew school building at 111 Huntingtown Road.

The weekend events will begin with Shabbat services on Friday, April 8, at 7:30, pm with an oneg to follow.

There will be a dinner dance and silent auction on Saturday, April 9, from 6:30 to 11 pm, at 707 Main restaurant in Monroe. The evening will feature an open bar, buffet dinner, and entertainment including a deejay and a comedian. Tickets are $75 per person in advance.

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the building site adjacent to the synagogue on Sunday, April 10, at 12:30 pm, rain or shine. Several local dignitaries and clergy will be present, and a champagne toast and light lunch will follow. These events are open to the public. For more information call 426-2932 or 264-0804.
