100 Gowns And More For Sale On Saturday
The Visiting Nurse Association of Newtown and Newtown High School Peer Leadership are co-sponsoring a âSpring Thingâ sale of formal and special occasion clothing on Saturday, April 9, from 9 am to 5 pm, at Edmond Town Hall.
Featured will be prom dresses, gowns, men and ladiesâ suits, short and long dresses and accessories. Dress-up attire will be available for teens, women, and men.
More than new 100 gowns have been donated by the Julie Allen Bridal shop on South Main Street for this sale, and many other items have been donated by other individuals in the community. The gowns are fashioned with such features as silk, satin, sequins, rhinestones, and are strapless, belted, jacketed, long, short, and in between, in the latest colors and styles. There will be modern jewelry, vintage jewelry, costume jewelry, accessories, shoes, and handbags.
Because the sale is so large, it will be held in several locations at Edmond Town Hall: the thrift shop and the old court room and meeting room on the lower level.
VNA volunteers assisted by NHS Peer Leadership members will run this event. The money derived from this major sale and sales at the VNAâs thrift shop enable the VNA to provide free nursing and medical services to residents who are unable to provide these services for themselves. The VNA also provides a wide range of free clinics: blood pressure, cholesterol, preschool eye screening, hearing, well child screenings, homemakers and home health services, and also nusing scholarships. The Newtown VNA has been providing these services since 1918.
NHS Peer Leadership is a student organization, created four years ago that helps to improve the school and local communities. Advisors are Jeff Tolson and Bret Nichols. The organization has more than 60 members, freshmen to seniors, who are selected by an application process.
