Newtown Police officers, Newtown Hook & Ladder firefighters and Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps personnel all responded to Church Hill Road just east of the road’s intersection with Queen Street around 9:45 am Friday, March 28, following a collision there between a silver 2024 Subaru Impreza and a red 2009 Ford Focus SES. Both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound travel lane of Church Hill Road, creating minor delays in the immediate area. The female driver of the Ford was able to self-extricate from her vehicle but the male driver of the Subaru needed medical attention before being transported to a hospital. First responders also controlled traffic around the scene and cleaned fluids before both vehicles were towed. Additional details were not available as this week’s paper went to press. —Bee Photo, Hicks
