Allan H. Springmeyer, 83, of Grace Meadows in Southbury, and formerly of Newtown and Bethlehem, died April 2 after a short illness. He was born in New York City to Dorothy (Bricker) and Harold Springmeyer.

He spent his younger years in Larchmont, N.Y., and graduated from Mamaroneck High School, with his future wife. He graduated from Lafayette College in 1952 with a degree in metallurgical engineering and worked for Chase Brass and Copper in Waterbury and Cleveland, Ohio. On returning to Connecticut he went into real estate, and until his retirement was one of the owners of Curtiss & Crandon Real Estate of Newtown, and a past president of the Newtown Board of Realtors.

In his spare time, Mr Springmeyer enjoyed working outside with his hands, and with his sons, raising and training horses, renovating classic cars from his 1956 Corvette to multiple Mustangs, MGs, Austin Healeys, and a 1930 Model A, remodeling multiple houses and homes, building furniture, and gardening.

His loving sons Gary and Glenn, both of Oakville, Conn., Kenneth of Garden City, S.C., and Eric of Waterbury; two loving daughters-in-law, Carol of Bethlehem and Charlotte of Sandy Hook, who made it her objective in life to never let him be alone on a holiday; four wonderful granddaughters, Natalie, Danielle, Elizabeth, and Christine; an unbelievably caring grandson, Stuart; his sister-in-law June; and three nieces survive Mr Springmeyer. He was also so very appreciative of Kristen for the part she plays in the life of one of his dear sons. He was predeceased by his high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Anne Elizabeth (Smith); and his baby brother Donald, who passed away only weeks ago.

Funeral services will be private. A remembrance gathering for friends and family will be announced at a later date.

Mr Springmeyer lived his later years at Grace Meadows in Southbury. He had a deep care and love for his friends, neighbors, and the management, especially for the caring and beautiful girl in the office. It was his request that those who wish to honor his memory send contributions to the Grace Meadows Residents Association Memorial Fund, 380 North Poverty Road, Southbury CT 06488.
